Born in Paddington Sydney, September 19 1975, Rosa went to an all girls high School in Waverley and completed her H.S.C. at Kincoppal Rose Bay, Convent of the sacred heart. She was very athletic growing up and played many sports including netball, tennis & field hockey.

Along with sports Rosa loved to dance. She had her first dance lesson at the age of three and over the years performed at lots of eisteddfods, functions, television shows and concerts. She studied contemporary jazz, ballet, tap, character and flamenco. Rosa became extremely passionate about flamenco, the traditional dance from Spain and this brought her closer to her culture and background. Her parents were born in Spain and immigrated to Australia in 1961.

This led Rosa to establish her very own Flamenco Dance School (Spanish Rose Dance Studio) at the age of 16 . Her students ranged from children as young as 2yrs through to adults. She also began teaching Aerobics at various Health Clubs and schools as had become a certified Fitness Trainer and Aerobics Instructor.

Shortly after, Rosa was introduced to competitive aerobics and competed at State and National level. She won the NSW state title and was runner up in the Nationals.

In 1995 Rosa was selected to be a part of popular TV show Aerobics Ozstyle and worked as a Fitness Presenter for Channel 10 Australia.

It wasn't until April 2003 after the birth of her two boys Dylan and Jaime, that Rosa began training seriously with weights. She was so impressed with the changes weight training had made to her physique and in October 2003 decided to enter her first figure show. Rosa won the WNSO-ANB Australian Figure Title and at that moment became hooked!

The following months she continued to compete and was thrilled to take 1st place at the NPFC/IFBB NSW Championships followed by 3 x Australian National Figure titles. Rosa was awarded her Pro Card in 2006 after placing 4th at the IFBB world championships in Spain, making her the highest ever placed Australian female in the sports history.

Rosa currently resides in Sydney Australia and has committed herself to the health and fitness industry promoting the sport worldwide. She has established herself as Australia's favourite fitness model appearing on numerous covers including Iron Man, Oxygen Magazine, New Zealand Fitness and is frequently on television promoting fitness and beauty products. Rosa continues to compete regularly in the USA and is currently ranked top 15 in the world.

'The 2009 IFBB California Figure Pro saw the highest placing in history of any figure athlete from Australasia, with the region’s top IFBB figure pro Rosa-Maria Romero placing 5th, which is her highest career placing to date.'
